Scott Joplin - The Entertainer 1902

Sounds like a player piano to me.

Subject: One of the Greatest
Scott Joplin' The Entertainer is simply one of the greatest works that shaped the modern art of music.

Nothing much to add except thanks to this archive.

Subject: A question of fidelity
Many years ago, I met an Australian player piano expert who publicly presented the works of Stravinsky (who cut many rolls for pianola) backed by a symphony orchestra.

The comment that Scott Joplin never recorded anything is technically untrue. A piano roll is a recording and were often "cut" to a master by the composer or performer actually playing their piece, This means that in playback you are getting a performance that actually matches precisely the way the performer played it. Theoretically the fidelity of the music, when played on a well tuned pianola. is as good if not better than any other medium.

Subject: Misnamed?
As much as I enjoyed the recording, a bit more info would have been nice. Scott Joplin never actually recorded anything and the closest we would have of a scott joplin recording would be from a piano roll. Thanks for sharing though. Really enjoyed it!
